Chris Yim, co-founder and CEO of LibertyX, said:
"This is the first acquisition by any company, public or private, of a bitcoin ATM operator."
LibertyX was founded back in 2013 and operates more than 10,000 Bitcoin ATMs in the US, while NCR, among other things, manufactures ATMs.
According to Tim Vanderham, NCR's chief technology officer, the purchase of LibertyX will help offer the company's customers digital currency solutions, including the ability to buy and sell cryptocurrencies.
