BitPay Adds Support for Litecoin as Payment Option

BitPay, a bitcoin (EXANTE: Bitcoin) and cryptocurrency payments service, has added support for litecoin (LTC) in the BitPay Wallet app. With the addition, users can buy, store and swap the cryptocurrency. Businesses using BitPay can also accept LTC as a payment method. According to a press release shared with iHodl, Newegg.com will become the first merchant to accept LTC through BitPay.

"Litecoin's fast transaction times and super low fees are ideal for an ecommerce giant like Newegg. We are extremely excited that Litecoin is now supported by BitPay, making it very easy for any merchants to accept LTC," said Charlie Lee, Developer of Litecoin.

As of press time, BitPay accepts 11 other cryptocurrencies including bitcoin, bitcoin cash (BCH), ether (ETH), XRP, dogecoin (DOGE), DAI, WBTC and stablecoins USD coin (USDC), gemini usd (GUSD), paxos standard (PAX) and binance usd (BUSD). Settlement in LTC is planned to be available this summer.

BitPay Now Supports Payments in Dai Stablecoin and Wrapped Bitcoin

In April this year, WeWork, a commercial real estate startup, started accepting cryptocurrency payments in select assets. The startup entered into a partnership with BitPay and Coinbase. Moreover, the US-based exchange became the first WeWork member to use cryptocurrency "to pay for its WeWork membership."
