All Instituitionals Have Multicoin Portfolio, Says Anchorage Co-Founder

The vast majority of institutional investors have a multicoin portfolio despite the fact they only talk about bitcoin (EXANTE: Bitcoin), Anchorage Co-Founder, Diogo Mónica, told Business Insider. He notes there are "very few clients" of Anchorage that only have bitcoin.

"All of them have a multicoin portfolio, even if externally, they only talk about bitcoin, many of them are actually investing in these new projects," Mónica said.

The Anchorage Co-Founder highlights the big players are also shifting their portfolios to include assets from the decentralized finance market. According to him, institutions are recognizing that DeFi is "one of the most exciting things to come out of crypto."

"It is even hard for somebody that spends 120% of their time in the crypto ecosystem to really stay on top of everything that is happening [in DeFi]," Mónica added.

However, it remains unclear which DeFi assets are popular among institutions. As iHodl earlier reported, Anchorage became one of the few crypto-related companies that received an approval by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) to become Anchorage Digital Bank, National Association.

The regulator agreed to give a national trust bank charter to Anchorage after "thorough review of the company and its current operations."
