Iranian police have seized 7,000 mining rigs as the country suffers exacerbated power outages, Reuters reports. The raid follows Iran's ban of the cryptocurrency mining activities for four months (until September 22) as the country is struggling to reduce the incidence of power blackouts triggered — according to the local authorities — by the miners.

According to Tehran police Head, General Hossein Rahimi, the 7,000 mining rigs were seized from an abandoned factory in the west of the capital. This is the largest haul so far.
