John McAfee, founder of world-wide known antivirus software company McAfee, has revealed what happened to the cryptos he received for promoting various projects:
"The US believes I have hidden crypto. I wish I did but it has dissolved through the many hands of Team McAfee (your belief is not required), and my remaining assets are all seized. My friends evaporated through fear of association. I have nothing. Yet, I regret nothing."

McAfee was arrested back in October 2020 after the United States put him on the international wanted list for tax evasion. The authorities in the country said McAfee had earned millions of dollars promoting crypto projects, consulting and other sources, however, he has not filed any tax returns since 2014. Prosecutors also believe he may be hiding real estate, cars and yachts registered in the names of third parties.
During a hearing at the Spanish National Court this week, McAfee said he rejects voluntary extradition, as he says the charges are politically motivated. According to him, the charges are related to the fact that he spoke out "against corruption in the US tax authorities" and that he intended to run for president of the country. At the hearing, McAfee said:
"I announced I would run again and I also announced I would target the IRS and its corruption and two months later the IRS filed charged against me. I have paid millions of dollars in taxes and my companies have paid billions."
In March, the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York charged McAfee with activities related to the crypto industry.
