Blockchain.com, a cryptocurrency wallet and exchange, has decided to relocate its US headquarter from New York to Miami. According to a press release, the company plans to hire 100 full-time employees by the end of 2021.

In 2022, the company also wants to hire an additional 200. Blockchain.com will also support the local crypto community by supporting the South Florida STEM community via "educational programming." Peter Smith, Blockchain.com CEO, says that the internet will be the "biggest economy in the world by 2030."

"The City of Miami recognizes the industry's potential, and we look forward to contributing to Miami's rich innovation ecosystem," Smith added.

Blockchain.com's relocation comes after the company attracted $300 million during its latest funding round, resulting in the company's valuation reaching $5.2 billion. Participants in the funding round included DST Global, Lightspeed Venture Partners and VY Capital, among others.

According to Blockchain.com, it has over 31 million verified customers and 70 million wallets in more than 200 countries worldwide, and its active user base has tripled over the past year.
