Nvidia, a computer chip manufacturer, is intensifying its fight against cryptocurrency miners by reducing ETH hash rate to newly manufactured GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards. The company said in an announcement that the new cards will start shipping in late May.

The new GPU cards will be labeled as cards with a "Lite Hash Rate," or "LHR," identifier. The company emphasized that the new feature only applies to newly manufactured cards with the LHR identifier and not to cards already purchased.

"We believe this additional step will get more GeForce cards at better prices into the hands of gamers everywhere," the company added.

However, the company declined to announce prices for the new cards. As iHodl reported earlier, Taiwanese computer component maker Gigabyte launched the NVIDIA CMP 30HX D6 6G, the first NVIDIA GPU for cryptocurrency mining made and sold by Gigabyte. The card is based on the Turing TU116-100 GPU with 1,408 CUDA cores and has a hash rate of 26 MH/s.
