With the recent update, users can now import cryptocurrencies stored on cold hardware wallets to the Samsung Blockchain Wallet available on most Galaxy smartphones.

"Support for hardware wallets provides Galaxy blockchain with a consistent user experience of managing crypto assets from one convenient location," the company said.

However, the Korean tech corporation is not integrating support for the cold wallets as a goodwill gesture. In 2019, Samsung invested $2.6 million in Ledger. While a Ledger spokesperson confirmed the investment, details of the investment remain unclear.

In December last year, a user database from the Ledger hardware cryptocurrency wallet website was dumped on the sharing marketplace Raidforums for free. The data breach happened when Ledger's representatives reported that an unknown person connected to the company's systems using an API key and stole the data of 1 million users, primarily their email addresses.

The database contained emails, physical addresses, phone numbers and more information on 272,000 Ledger buyers and emails of 1,000,000 additional users.
