Crypto exchange Crypto.com has just announced it has received a class 3 license from the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA), the platform has reported via an official statement.

It must be noted that obtaining this license can be considered a milestone for the cryptocurrency sector in the European Union.

Now the platform has been granted this license, it must comply with stricter governance, compliance and security requirements.

The exchange had been operating until now under a transitional legal framework within the regulatory framework of the country, which is one of the few in the EU to have developed a clear crypto regulation.

Kris Marszalek, co-founder and CEO of Crypto.com, has said the company "has long believed that building a fully regulated business is the best way to accelerate the world’s transition to cryptocurrency."
