Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has asked Twitter users whether Tesla should accept the meme crypto Dogecoin as a payment method for its electric vehicles.

The proposal is not far-fetched at all, as the US electric vehicle maker has accepted BTC since the end of March. In addition, the company also announced earlier this year it had invested $1.5 billion in Bitcoin.

The price of Dogecoin could be positively affected by the news, as it has always reacted to Musk's comments on the meme crypto in the past. This time, it is not just a mere comment, as there is a real possibility that the company could end up accepting the crypto as a payment method.

Nearly 1,800,000 users have voted so far. Voting will be open for 20 more hours, so the final number of votes will be much higher.

It only remains to wait what Musk decides to do if the result of the poll is positive. Will users be able to pay for their new Tesla vehicles with the meme crypto?

Some sports clubs, including the Dallas Mavericks and the Oakland Athletics, already accept the crypto as a means of payment.
