Nokia, a Finnish multinational telecommunications company, has presented its new marketplace based on a blockchain technology called Nokia Data Marketplace. According to an announcement, the new marketplace uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to provide secure and automated data exchange.
Friedrich Trawoeger, Vice President, Cloud and Cognitive Services at Nokia, claims the platform allows enterprises to benefit from "richer insights" and "predictive models" to drive digital ways of business development. The marketplace also complements Nokia Worldwide IoT Network Grid (WING), which offers global IoT connectivity and vertical applications.
Nokia believes that technologies integrated into the marketplace enable a wide range of vertical use cases, including electric vehicle charging, environmental data monetization, energy, smart cities and healthcare.
The Finnish company first announced its plans for a data-focused marketplace back in 2018. Back then, the company entered into a partnership with Streamr, a blockchain platform and OSIsoft, a Calfiornia software developer, to build a blockchain product that allows smartphone users to monetize information.
