Ex-OCC Chief Brooks Joins Binance.US as CEO

Former acting US Comptroller of the Currency, Brian Brooks, will join Binance's US arm Binance.US as Chief Executive Office. In an announcement, the exchange said Brooks will start his new job May 1. Brooks says the cryptocurrency market is at the "cusp of mainstream adoption of blockchain technology and digital tokens by individuals, institutions, and governments alike."

"I am eager to work closely with industry participants and policymakers to develop an enduring regulatory framework that enables Americans to reap the benefits of decentralized finance for generations to come," he added.

Binance's Founder and CEO, Changpeng Zhao, highlighted that Brooks is an"esteemed leader with an unparalleled blend of experience." In January this year, Brooks left the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) after eight months of service.

Working at the OCC, Brooks accelerated the adoption of cryptocurrencies in the United States as national banks received permission to offer custody services for digital assets.
