Hackers yesterday moved around 12,200 BTC stolen from crypto exchange Bitfinex in 2016, as reported on Telegram channel Goldfoundinshit.

The hackers reportedly took advantage of all the hype around Coinbase's IPO as well as the recent spike in the price of Bitcoin to move the stolen funds from the platform, which are currently worth around $780M.

According to Whale Alert, the funds were transferred in several transactions, with the largest being one of 1,241.37 BTC.

Real-time crypto data analysis service Trade The Chain has confirmed the number of Bitcoins moved and estimates that they represent 10% of the total of 119,756 BTC stolen from Bitfinex in the hack the platform suffered in 2016.

Last November 30, more than 5,000 BTC were also moved from the same fund.
