A database containing data on 500 million LinkedIn users has been published on a hacker forum, according to a Cyber News report. A LinkedIn spokesperson told Business Insider:
"The posted dataset appears to include publicly viewable information that was scraped from LinkedIn."

LinkedIn currently has 740 million users, so the database includes data on about two-thirds of the social network's users.
The data includes account IDs, names, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, employment information, gender as well as links to other social network accounts.
The attackers could leverage this information to target companies using employee information, said Paul Prudhomme, an analyst at intelligence firm IntSights. These type of attacks could be successful because of the growing popularity of remote work during the covid-19 pandemic, he said.
