Riot Blockchain, Nasdaq-listed bitcoin (EXANTE: Bitcoin) mining company, has announced the purchase pf additional 42,000 S19j Antminers from Bitmain for $138.5 million. With the new equipment, Riot Blockchain plans to add approximately 3.7 EH/s to its existing mining power.

According to a press release, the company is scheduled to receive at least 3,500 S19j ASICs on a monthly basis starting in November 2021, and will continue through October 2022. Riot COO, Megan Brooks, says this long-term purchase order marks a "major milestone in the continued expansion of Riot’s mining operations."
"Riot’s existing fleet of miners has already positioned the Company as an American leader in Bitcoin mining," Brooks added.
Last October, Riot purchased an additional 2,500 next generation S19 Pro Antminer crypto miners for $6.1 million from Bitmain. With the purchase, Riot Blockchain expected to reach 842 PH/s in operational hash rate with 9,540 miners.
