Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has hired Morgan Stanley lawyer Ian Rooney as its new Head of Enterprise Compliance, Bloomberg has learned, citing the exchange's spokesman Elliott Suthers. According to the report, the exchange also hired Molly Abraham as an Associate General Counsel for Commercial.

The appointment comes after Coinbase hired the SEC's Director of the Division of Trading and Markets, Brett Redfearn, as its VP of Products and Capital Markets. Meanwhile, the San Francisco-based exchange is about to go public through a direct listing.

Shares trading in private auctions valued Coinbase at $100 billion. As iHodl reported, Morgan Stanley, one of the largest banks in the US, plans to buy a stake in the South Korean crypto trading platform Bithumb. According to reports, the financial institution plans to invest between 300 billion and 500 billion won ($265-440 million).
