According to an announcement, the Bakkt App also has integrated support for buying and selling the bitcoin (EXANTE: Bitcoin) cryptocurrency. Bakkt initially planned to launch the app last year. While the reason behind the delay remains unclear, the company reported in September 2020 that it had reached a new record trading volume in physically delivered BTC futures.

The company traded a record 15,955 BTC futures contracts on September 15, 2020, which is 36% more than the previous record of 11,706 on July 28, 2020.
