NYDIG, a cryptocurrency-focused investment firm, has announced the appointment of New York Life CEO, Ted Mathas, to the NYDIG Board of Directors. According to a press release, Mathas will help NYDIG's Board with focusing on expanding the fintech services to institutional and individual clients.

With Mathas' experience, NYDIG could allow institutional investors simple and secure access to bitcoin (EXANTE: Bitcoin), the press release says. NYDIG Founder and Executive Chairman, Ross Stevens, says Mathas shares the firm's "aspirational vision" for the kind of positive impact on society.

Mathas' appointment comes after NYDIG raised $200 million from Stone Ridge Holdings Group, Morgan Stanley, New York Life, MassMutual, Soros Fund Management, and FS Investments. NYDIG CEO, Robert Gutmann, said will be working with the investors on Bitcoin-related strategic initiatives.
