According to Larimer, Clarion plans to give the tools to broadcast messages "without creating dependencies on centralized infrastructure." Larimer notes the new social network will achieve this with a"censorship resistant 'friend to friend' network."
The project will support text and video messaging, voice chats and the ability to publish content. While the platform does not have a token "at its foundation," Larimer noted that if there are tokens, then they "could be airdropped on EOS." The launch date remains unknown as the project is in the early design stage.
Earlier in January, iHodl reported that Daniel Larimer left Block.one. He presented his resignation as CTO of the project at the end of 2020 arguing that "all good things must come to an end." Larimer had been serving as Block.one CTO since April 2017.
