Dogecoin, a meme cryptocurrency, has received "a minor update that includes important performance improvements." This is the first upgrade of Dogecoin since July 2019.

"Significantly improves the speed at which a node can upload blocks, by removing expensive integrity checks that were performed each time a block is sent to another node," the announcement says.
In addition, the update also reduces the default time that transactions are cached in the mempool from 336 to 24 hours. The setting can be changed manually, but the developers note that the default value is optimal for nodes.
As iHodl earlier reported, Chinese cryptocurrency mining hardware manufacturer, Ebang International, decided to launch a Litecoin and Dogecoin mining business. The Hangzhou-based company plans to purchase a combination of deploying self-manufactured mining machines to mine LTC and DOGE simultaneously.
