Taleb wrote in a recent tweet that belief in bitcoin is rather an "irreversible ideological commitment" than an investment strategy.

"Actually it is a religion. You "belong" to a group of amoebas," Taleb added.

This is not the first time Taleb criticizes the cryptocurrency community. Previously, he called the vast majority of Bitcoin maximalists "total idiots" as they "cannot get nuances beyond fortune cookies." However, he admits that from the technical point of view bitcoin is a good idea.

Meanwhile, bitcoin is up 2.38% to $50,505 at 12 pm in New York. The cryptocurrency has gained 72.98% so far this year.
