Yearn.Finance Restores Stolen Funds After Hacker Attack

Decentralized finance industry (DeFi) project Yearn.Finance (YFI) has restored the yDAI repository, which fell victim to a hacker attack last week. As a result of the hack, the repository lost $11M, while the hackers stole $2.8M. The developers of the project wrote:

"yDAI vault restored! Yearn has opened a Maker Vault with YFI from the Treasury to mint 9.7m DAI and make the yDAI vault whole."

The project has published the details of a transaction in which 1,591.53 YFI has been used as collateral to issue 9.69M of DAI tokens.

During the recent attack on Yearn.Finance, hackers used several cryptocurrency loan services, a technique used in other DeFi attacks in the past. Yearn.Finance developers then asked its users to secure deposits using the Cover protocol in the future.
