Kraken Suspends Sign-ups Over 'Extremely High' Demand

Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has temporarily suspended registration for new users due to "extremely high demand," the exchange wrote on Kraken Status. The exchange claims its engineers are still working on the issue, and it will share any updates as soon as they become available.

Kraken suspension of sign-ups comes after Tesla officially became one of the largest investors in bitcoin (EXANTE: Bitcoin) as the company invested $1.5 billion in the cryptocurrency. Such a big announcement immediately crashed several cryptocurrency exchanges and bitcoin's price surged by $4,000 just within one hour setting up a new all-time high at the 45,000 mark.

Kraken Puts $100K in Coin Center for Industry Promotion

In December last year, Kraken announced it will add support for Lightning Network in 2021. The exchange will hire a special team focused on the Lightning Network. Kraken plans to integrate withdrawal and deposit feature for bitcoin on Lightning in the first half of 2021.
