Donald Trump, the president of the United States, has pardoned or commuted the punishment for 143 people, according to the White House press service. However, the founder of the Silk Road market, Ross Ulbricht, is not on the list.

In December, sources of the The Daily Beast reported the documents in the Ulbricht case were pending with a White House aide, and Trump was informed of requests made by supporters of the Silk Road founder. Two of them claim that the president unofficially expressed his sympathy for Ulbricht. Ulbricht's mother later said:

"We're praying and remain hopeful that he will show mercy on Ross, as he has others, and commute his sentence to time served and give my son a second chance at life."

In addition, Trump has not pardoned Edward Snowden and Julian Assange. At the same time, Kenneth Kurson, a former Ripple board member and co-founder of the crypto portal Modern Consensus, is on the list.

Kurson was arrested in October 2020 for allegedly cyberstalking his ex-wife. The pardon notice reads:

"In a powerful letter to the prosecutors, Mr. Kurson’s ex-wife wrote on his behalf that she never wanted this investigation or arrest and, repeatedly asked for the FBI to drop it."
