Binance Charity, a not-for-profit philanthropy organization, has donated over $60,000 to help healthcare workers in fight with the COVID-19 pandemic in Mexico, the exchange has announced. The donations were reportedly used to buy KN95 masks and will be distributed among three hospitals in Mexico City which were affected by the pandemic.

Helen Hai, Head of Binance Charity, says the organization sent the masks "to serve and protect" doctors in Mexico.

"We thank them for their efforts and wish to remind them that they are not alone in this fight against the coronavirus," she added.

In October last year, Binance Charity raised more than $4 million in cryptocurrencies as part of its Crypto vs. COVID project, which was launched in March 2020.

The initiative provided assistance in 20 countries around the world and more than 450 million pieces of personal protection equipment had been sent to medical institutions last year.
