Stablecoin issuer Tether has increased its supply of USDT tokens by 2B over the past seven days. As a result, the total number of USDT coins in circulation has reached 24.4B.
According to the data available on Tether's site, 14.34 billion have been issued in the Ethereum blockchain, 9 billion in the Tron blockchain and the rest in Omni, EOS, Algorand, the sidechain Liquid and Bitcoin Cash's Simple Ledger Protocol.
Tether CTO Paolo Ardoino says that large new investors are actively using USDT to trade in the OTC market, and this is contributing to the growth in the amount of stablecoins in circulation:
"Among Tether customers are all the major OTC desks and high frequency trading firms in the space."
