The price of Ether, the second largest cryptocurrency in the market by capitalization, has surpassed the psychological barrier of $1,000 for the first time since 2018.

In particular, the asset developed by Vitalik Buterin exceeded $1,000 last night a few hours after surpassing several previous highs ($800 and $900).

It looks like BTC, which is grabbing all the headlines after exceeding $34,000 for the first time in its history, is not the only crypto that is experiencing spectacular growth.

At the moment, the price of Ether is $964.93 after adding 17.67% over the past 24 hours. As far as its market capitalization is concerned, it is above $111B. The weekly growth of the currency is 33.34%.

Last month CME Group announced it plans to launch an ETH futures product on February 8 once it receives approval from the regulators.

The growth of the currency could be driven by this news as well as by the increased institutional interest in the asset.
