For its part, Ethereum also rose by 1.54% up to $615.18. XRP for its part dropped heavily below the $0.40 mark down to $0.36 (-23.36%).

FxPro's team of analysts say the bitcoin dominance index continues to rise, reaching 67.7%.

"Over the week, the indicator showed an increase of 4%, which negatively affects the dynamics of altcoins that are still in the shadow of the largest cryptocurrency," the analysts emphasize.

iHodl earlier reported that the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) submitted a lawsuit against Ripple Inc., in which it accused the company of unregistered offering of securities.

Garlinghouse Warns SEC Wants to Sue Ripple

The SEC says Ripple undertook distribution of the XRP tokens without registering offers and sales of XRP with the SEC. The watchdog also says Larsen and Ripple's current Chief Executive, Brad Garlinghouse, "orchestrated unlawful" sales and "personally profited" by approximately $600 million from sales of XRP.
