EXMO Suffers Hack Attack, Loses 5% of Total Assets

Cryptocurrency exchange EXMO has announced it had detected some large withdrawals since December 21st at 2:27:02 UTC. The exchange has already suspended withdrawals.

According to an official announcement, EXMO lost the following digital currencies: BTC, XRP, ZEC, USDT, ETC and ETH in EXMO. The unknown hacker managed to get access to the exchange's hot wallets and withdraw near 5% of the total assets.

"Most importantly, we want to assure you that if any user fund is affected by this incident, it will be covered completely by EXMO," the exchange reassured.

The hacker (or a group of hackers) withdrew the funds to these addresses:

EXMO claims it has reported the case to the London police and keep in touch with the Cybercrime team. iHodl previously reported that the Ledger hardware cryptocurrency wallet user database had been dumped on the sharing marketplace Raidforums for free.

The data breach happened earlier this year when Ledger's representatives reported that an unknown person connected to the company's systems using an API key and stole the data of 1 million users, primarily their email addresses.
