While the nature of the problem remains unknown, CZ says that margin and spot trading, OTC, peer-to-peer, Earn, Liquidity Swap, Launchpool (farming) and Cloud are temporarily suspended. All deposit, withdraw and transfer features are also paused, CZ added.

"Futures trading is still running. Everything else is in maintenance mode now. Working to bring the system back online asap," CZ said.

While futures matching engine and trading are working, the exchange does not support for transfers. Later CZ wrote the exchange's team successfully restarted the matching engine and hopes to return Binance back to operational mode within an hour.

In November 2020, CZ told Bloomberg that the exchange is seeing a real adoption of cryptocurrencies as more users come in. Despite the regulatory tightening, CZ says "things are going pretty well."
