Coinbase to Support Ethereum 2.0 Staking Rewards

The US-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase plans to support ETH2 through staking and trading. According to an official announcement, the exchange's clients could convert ETH via Coinbase accounts to ETH2 and earn staking rewards.

With ETH2 locked on the beacon chain, Coinbase will also allow trading between ETH2, ETH, and other supported digital assets.

"We will be launching the above features to customers in eligible jurisdictions starting in early 2021. We will communicate more details closer to the launch of each feature," the exchange says.

The Ethereum Beacon Chain will be launched on December 1, indicating a new a multi-year upgrade to Ethereum 2.0. Previously, the Ethereum 2.0 deposit contract raised the minimum amount of funds needed to launch the upgrade.

Meanwhile, the interest of users in ethereum (ETH) is experiencing a significant increase in recent weeks. The searches for the term "Ethereum" in the Google search engine have reached their highest level since February 2018.
