A group of unknown hackers have stolen $32,000 from Electrum users by exploiting a vulnerability in the Bitcoin wallet. According to Whale Alert, on November 13, one of the confirmed addresses of the hackers received a transfer of 2 BTCs.

The address has been in use since mid 2019. During this time, it has received over 106 BTCs ($1.7M at the current exchange rate).

All victims have received a request to update their wallets through a pop-up message. After installing the supposed update and entering a one-time password, the wallet funds were transferred to the address of the attackers.

In October some hackers stole more than $23M in Bitcoins through a fake Electrum update. Attackers have been exploiting the vulnerability since at least December 2018.
