The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) will be using cryptocurrencies generated by local miners for imports, the official IRNA news agency reported.

The cryptocurrency mining limit for each miner will reportedly be regulated the level of the subsidized energy used for mining and based on instructions published by the Ministry of Energy.

Whether local authorities will rely on the market prices or form their own exchange rate remains unknown.

Iran's intentions to use digital assets at a state level became known earlier in September when the Kish Free Zone Organization (KFZO) CEO, Hossein Mozaffari, said that Iran was looking at cryptocurrencies as payment method for imported vehicle shipments.
