BitTorrent Announces Acquisition of DLive Blockchain Streaming Service

BitTorrent Inc., has announced plans to acquire a blockchain-based streaming service called DLive.

As per the official announcement, BitTorrent also plans to migrate all the company-related services to a single ecosystem named BitTorrent X. BitTorrent X is a w new peer-to-peer service, where all the company's utilities and services will be powered by the BTT cryptocurrency.

TRON and BitTorrent CEO Justin Sun believes that the BitTorrent X ecosystem "may drive blockchain-related tools to billions of devices."

"Hundreds of millions of users will have access to the next era of tools to share, store, and stream their content directly to anyone across the web," Sun said.

TRON and BitTorrent plan to provide more details about BitTorrent X during a live event in November, the announcement states.

iHodl earlier reported that BitTorrent announced the so-called BitTorrent file system (BTFS), a new storage solution for running TRON Network nodes.

According to TRON, BTFS, as both a protocol and a network application, provides a content-addressable, peer-to-peer mechanism for storing and sharing digital content in a decentralized file manner. While syncing a new mainnet node can take between a few hours, days, or weeks, BTFS’s decentralized cloud can drastically reduce times.
