ConsenSys Partners with Protocol Labs to Integrate Filecoin into Ethereum

​Blockchain-focused company ConsenSys has announced a partnership with Protocol Labs​, the open-source fintech company whose projects include ​InterPlanetary File System ​(IPFS),​ ​Filecoin​, libp2p​ to integrate Filecoin for data storage and retrieval with Ethereum.

According to an official press release, Filecoin cryptocurrency miners and devs can now access Ethereum framework to integrate with Ethereum’s ecosystem.

​ConsenSys Founder and CEO Joseph Lubin​ says many company's applications have used IPFS for years through Infura:

"We are eager to build out greater functionality for IPFS and introduce new tools that will enable developers and consumers to easily make use of Filecoin and IPFS for their app development and pure storage needs," he added.

Earlier, ConsenSys revealed the so-called DeFi Bridge for Filecoin that enables liquid markets for lending and borrowing Filecoin on Ethereum’s decentralized finance (DeFi) markets.

The DeFi Bridge, according to an official announcement, enables Filecoin hodlers to tokenize their FIL assets in DeFi protocols based on the Ethereum blockchain. These tools are open for everyone through the Codefi interfaces.
