Based in Luxembourg cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp has introduced an additional layer of protection for the cryptocurrencies stored on the platform.

With the new crime insurance policy that covers an array of crime-related cases users can protect not only online, but also offline assets. Bitstamp says the insurance is provided by Paragon International Insurance Brokers with Woodruff Sawyer.
"We keep approximately 98% of all digital assets stored offline and protected by BitGo’s insurance policy. Now, the assets at Bitstamp are protected even while they’re held online or during transit in a large range of scenarios," the exchange wrote.
In September, Bitstamp integrated a new matching engine from Nasdaq’s technology vendor arm Market Technology. The new trading engine allows the exchange to meet high levels of demand "even during extreme volume spikes."
Orders are now matched as they are opened, without placing them in a waiting queue, Bitstamp added.
