Users in 40 countries, including the US and the UK, can now make almost instantaneous withdrawals from Coinbase, according to a press release shared by the exchange.
This new service has been possible thanks to the collaboration of Visa and Mastercard. The exchange users from the US, the UK and Europe can now withdraw funds directly to their Visa cards linked to their accounts, while US users can also withdraw funds to their Mastercard cards.
Terry Angelos, SVP and global head of fintech at Visa, said:
"By enabling real-time card withdrawals through the Visa Direct capability, Coinbase is delivering a faster, simpler and more connected experience for its users — making it easier to convert crypto balances into fiat, which can be spent at the more than 60M merchant locations where Visa is accepted."
However, it must be noted this service is not free of charge. US users will have to pay a 1.5% fee (minimum $0.55), a percentage that increases up to 2% in the case of UK and European users.
