ChartsBTC has reported that just 2.5 million Bitcoins are left to be mined, which means that 88.1% of the total supply of the crypto (21 million coins) has already been mined.

Specifically, the resource has indicated half of these 2.5 million Bitcoins will be mined over the next 4 years.

It must be noted that since the Bitcoin genesis block was mined in 2009, the crypto's network has experienced 3 halvings, the last one in May this year. As a result of these halvings, which occur every 4 years, the last Bitcoin is expected to be mined in 2140, after which there will be no more coins to mine.

Many people have speculated about what might happen after the last Bitcoin is mined. A large number of participants in the crypto community believe the shortage of the currency could boost its price.

Regarding halvings, experts believe the last one has been different from the two previous ones due to the fact that more and more investors seem to be interested in storing their savings in BTC in the long-term.
