Russia has officially entered into the blockchain race as Russia's First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov included the blockchain technology into the list of the State's top policy priorities.

According to the TASS news agency, Belousov calls on the development of promising technological groundwork for end-to-end technologies.

"The focus here is the following one: first, this is support and development of promising technological groundwork for end-to-end technologies in cooperation between the state and the largest companies," Belousov added.

Belousov also hopes to attract investments through "private capital and public-private partnerships." Among Russia's other priorities are 5G technologies, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, quantum computing and alternative energy sources.

iHodl earlier reported that the largest airline in Russia, S7 Airlines, will start selling air tickets via blockchain developed by Sberbank, a state-owned Russian banking giant.

The joint project will allow air ticket sales agents with accounts at Sberbank to make settlements with the airline through smart contracts using tokens tied to real customer accounts.
