Beller, who is currently Novi’s head of strategy, will become a partner at venture capital firm called NFX. Beller added CNBC she will be involved in Libra's development "at some capacity" as an advisor.

"I love libra, I’m a fan girl of libra. I am not going away. I will continue to be a friend, follow very closely and be involved at some capacity. It was just that when the NFX folks came knocking — this was obvious," she said.

Beller joined Facebook in 2017 and help the social network giant to focus on new blockchain & crypto initiatives. In August 2020, Facebook’s crypto Chief David Marcus also had been appointed as head of a new initiative called Facebook Financial (F2).

The newly-formed team manages all the social network's payments projects, including Facebook Pay.

Despite the new role, Marcus is still in charge of Novi, Facebook's renamed and rebranded digital wallet. Facebook also hired former Upwork CEO Stephane Kasriel and appointed him as F2 Vice President.
