According to the application, the financial institution is looking for a number of technical experts (software engineers and solution architects) in distributed ledger technologies and blockchain spheres with a corporate title of Adviser for its Swiss and Hong Kong SAR centers.

BIS claims the potential candidates will lead and oversee projects for the development of new technological solutions in the digital asset space, such as central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), tokenized securities and token-based payment systems.

"You will be helping to improve the functioning of the global financial system by providing technical leadership in developing the next generation of distributed platforms," BIS says.

BIS is also looking for an expert with experience in one or more of the coding languages, e.g. Python, Java, C++, Scala, Go, Solidity, PHP.

The application deadline is set for October 7, 2020.

In April, the Head of BIS' Innovation Hub Benoît Cœuré at the Reinventing Bretton Woods Committee said that discussions on CBDC came into sharper focus.

The Covid-19 pandemic had already highlighted the value of having access to diverse means of payments, and the need for any means of payments to be resilient against a broad range of threats, Cœuré added.
