Thailand's hospitals and companies are facing a major ransomware attack, which locks up the files on a computer and encrypts them, Reuters has learned.
Major General Phanthana Nutchanart claims not only government hospitals, but also companies are suffering the attack "in the same manner as Saraburi Hospital."

However, not all victims understand what to do next as they did not receive a demand for payment.
Other victims have already paid a ransom in bitcoin (EXANTE: Bitcoin) to decrypt data. The total number of organizations affected is still being investigated, Nutchanart adds.
In August, one of the top earning travel companies, CWT (formerly known as Carlson Wagonlit Travel), paid a $4.5 million in bitcoins to hackers who managed to steal sensitive corporate files and compromised 30,000 computers offline.
The hackers used a ransomware called Ragnar Locker, that encrypts computer files and makes it impossible to use them until the victim pays the ransom.
