For its part, Ethereum has also dropped to $410.24 (-4.50%). XRP fell by -7.24% and now is trading at $0.292.

FxPro's team of analysts say:

"It remains to be seen whether the current correction will escalate into a longer decline amid an overflow of interest in the more traditional stock and gold markets. If the greed and fear index is still in the greed area, then the RSI for BTC/USD has shown a sharp decline."

The total cryptocurrency market capitalization is $365.8 billion, according to CoinMarketCap.

iHodl earlier reported that open interest in bitcoin (EXANTE: Bitcoin) futures updated the previous record by reaching a new one at the $5.8 billion mark.
