According to an official blog announcement, Manish Gupta served as VP of Engineering at Lyft for the last two years. Before Lyft, Gupta worked at Google for 16 years as VP of Engineering for Google’s Ads platform.
Coinbase CEO and Co-Founder Brian Armstrong says the company "is undergoing a shift to being a remote-first company, which will unlock potential but also require the company to learn and iterate within a remote-first culture."
"Aside from his exceptional engineering experience, Manish impressed us with his positive energy, clear communication, great questions, and passion for the mission and opportunity we have as a company," Coinbase CEO added.
Coinbase is planning for a stock market listing that could come as early as this year. Hence, Coinbase may be the first US-based cryptocurrency exchange to go public.
iHodl reported that the exchange has not yet filed application to go public with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, but has been in negotiations with several investment banks and law firms.
