The social network, which yesterday hit headlines after a hacker or group of hackers managed to hack into the accounts of a large number of personalities and companies in order to carry out a crypto scam, has decided to restrict the publication of crypto addresses.

It looks like the measure is aimed at preventing fraudsters from sharing crypto addresses directly through their accounts. The social network has reportedly restricted the use of long sequences of numbers and letters, which is exactly the format crypto addresses usually have.

This way Twitter wants to avoid incidents like yesterday's, in which fraudsters managed to steal about $100,000 from users, who transferred funds to the address provided by the attackers hoping to receive the rewards they promised.

So far, it looks like Twitter has already banned the publication of Litecoin, XRP, Monero, Bitcoin and Ethereum addresses. The social network shows the following error message if users now try to post a crypto address:

"This request looks like it might be automated. To protect our users from spam and other malicious activity, we can’t complete this action right now. Please try again later."
