Coinbase, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world, is selling its blockchain analysis software to the US Secret Service, according to a public record.

The Secret Service, part of the US Department of Homeland Security, is responsible for conducting financial crime investigations in addition to protecting the nation's top leaders.

According to the record, the agency has reportedly signed a four-year contract with the US crypto trading platform Coinbase that allows it to use Coinbase Analytics, the exchange's blockchain analysis software.

The institution has reportedly paid $183,750 to access the service until May 9, 2024.

The contract award has also been published on USASpending.gov, a directory of government contract awards.

Other US government institutions are also interested in this blockchain software, since in June it was known the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) was willing to offer 250,000 to the exchange to use its analysis tool.

Coinbase Analytics is a blockchain analysis solution used by the platform internally that allows it to meet regulatory requirements and protect its clients' funds.
