Coinbase Hires Facebook Deputy General Counsel

Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has announced it hired Paul Grewal, Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Facebook, as Chief Legal Officer.

Before Facebook, Grewal worked more than 5 years as the US magistrate judge for the Northern District of California.

At Coinbase, Paul will be in charge of all legal functions of the global business and will focus the continuing growth of the exchange's class legal team.

"...Paul will also lead the team’s continuing work to partner with financial services regulators, contribute to the development and rollout of innovative, regulated products and services, and support the company’s global growth and regulatory strategy," the exchange wrote in an announcement.

In April, popular American cryptocurrency exchange hired Brett Tejpaul, a former executive at Barclays, one of the UK's biggest financial institutions.

Tejpaul spent over 15 years in various positions in both the US and the UK. At Barclays, Tejpaul had been serving as Global Head of Sales (across all of Fixed Income and Equities) and Global Head of Credit and Commodities.
