CCTV, a government-controlled media in China, has just reported the popular crypto exchange Binance is reportedly allowing Chinese users to register on the platform despite being banned in the country.

Chinese regulators decided back in September 2017 to ban centralized crypto exchanges like Binance, while users can still buy digital currencies on p2p or OTC platforms.

According to the media, one of its reporters has allegedly managed to open an account at binancezh.com, the exchange's subsidiary in China, upload identity verification documents and have his face verified through Binance's mobile app.

The reporter has managed to carry out a Bitcoin transaction through Binance.

After being consulted by CCTV, Binance has reported its official app is no longer available for download in China and that its website is not accessible from the country either. Regarding binancezh.com, the platform has said it is a test site and that "most of its users are from Egypt."

Binance rolled out in October its own p2p platform in China that allows users to buy cryptocurrencies through Alipay and WeChat.
