Justin Sun, head of the TRON Foundation, has just announced the TRON 4.0 network will be rolled out on July 7.
The main new feature of the upgrade is the inclusion of zK-SNARKS-based private smart contracts. They allow transactions to be made without revealing confidential data. The company says TRON will become the first blockchain to integrate this type of smart contracts.
The update also includes the following new features:
- The TPOS dual-layer consensus mechanism, which will reduce block confirmation time from 57 seconds to 3 seconds.
- The TICP cross-chain protocol, which will allow cross-chain interactions on the TRON ecosystem.
- New solutions focused on financial institutions and companies.
The TRON Foundation has stressed out the integration of zk-SNARKS smart contracts will not make TRX transactions anonymous. In addition, the update will not affect the privacy of TRX, TRON's native token.
