Popular South Korean chat KakaoTalk has finally launched its own blockchain-based digital asset wallet called Klip.

Developed by Ground X, the wallet is integrated into the KakaoTalk chat, a mobile messaging app used by more than 90% of the South Korean population.

According to an official press release, Klip allows storing and transferring cryptocurrencies obtained from Klaytn-based blockchain apps across different verticals such as social networking, gaming, and e-commerce.

Initially, Klip will support only 11 Klaytn-based cryptocurrencies (KLAY, BOX, BPT, PIB, HINT, ATT, TEMCO, BNS, PXL, ISR, COSM) as well as a multitude of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs).

The number of Klaytn-based cryptocurrencies and NFTs that will be supported in Klip will increase gradually over time, the press release says.

It is unknown whether the wallet will add support for bitcoin (EXANTE: Bitcoin) or ether (ETH).

Blockchain-developer at Kakao, Joong-Ho Cho, said last year that Ground X is also working on user-friendly services such as web browser-based digital wallet Cicas, a blockchain-based identity authentication system, and a library for developers.
